Chicago Science of Science and Industry

We went to Chicago as a family for a field trip April 23, 2010.   The museums here have periodic free days.  It was crazy busy and we barely dented the place!

I'm so glad that Mark said he wanted to go too.  I had originally thought I would just zip over to Chicago with the kids all by myself!  Ha!  I was so tired by the way home that I slept the whole time.  At one point, I asked him if he was doing okay or getting sleepy and he said he was fine, and I was glad because there wasn't a whole lot I could have done about it!

It is a beautiful museum.

Swiss pinball machine.

We totally were surprised to find the only German sub ever caught during WWII and not only that, taken secretly and it is what broke that part of the war - we had their codes!

A real sub!  We didn't go in, but it was impressive to see.  Worth the trip alone!

Down by the back of the sub, see the propeller!

Okay, big switch of topic now!  Milking fake cows!

A very cool, ornate and huge doll house.

Heat cameras. Yep, my hubbie is HOT!

I loved this part, seeing real bodies "expanded" to see the different systems. There were cross sections of brains too. Amazing work God has done. There was also a whole display of preborn babies in the different stages.  It makes me sad to see it because these were real babies, but I like the fact that people can SEE that these really are babies even while in the womb.  Maybe that display will turn someone away from an abortion down the road.  That is my prayer.

Afterwards, we went downtown to get pizza, but the place was all reserved with parties, so we ended up eating at a Panda Express!  Downtown Chicago and that is where we eat!  But, it was raining and we had already paid to park the van, so our choices were limited and narrowing by the minute!
